Success at GCSEs in Flying Colours

At every stage of learning at Archlead Learning Hub, we ensure course coverage, that is in line with the National Curriculum, is including a continuous cycle of the following:

  • linking to prior learning through recall preparing for the new learning by strengthening the foundation required,
  • clear modelling of examples that are noted down by tutees for developing understanding and revision purposes,
  • structured and planned questioning from both the tutor and tutees to enable depth of understanding,
  • mathematical problems that enable an analysis of current learning
  • planned assessment for learning,
  • record-keeping of all work,
  • extensive practice in numerical and word problems
  • constructive verbal and written feedback at various instances that motivates learning,
  • structured scaffolds are provided to enable especially through the new learning stage and also to engulf progress through the learning from the stages of the numerical end to the algebraic end of it
  • use of the Mastery Approach where tutees have plenty of opportunities to contribute to learning and train themselves enough to be able to peer-teach thereby they practice their listening, speaking, team-working and leadership skills resulting in an enjoyable and engaging learning environment
  • GCSE based problem-solving takes it further to crossover problems related to numerous units of work,
  • frequent and planned instances to enable necessary revisiting of the topics over the tutoring period to enable building long-term memory and strengthening the mathematical skills.
